How to care for your leather bag

Full-grain leather is made for everyday life. It does not need to be treated delicately, but a little considered care will help it soften, deepen in color and develop an even patina.

Here is the simple routine we follow.

Every day

Keep the bag away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat, which can dry the leather or cause uneven fading.

Avoid overfilling it for long periods, particularly with heavy objects. This helps the body, handles and straps retain their intended shape.

After use, remove dust with a clean, soft cloth. When storing the bag, lightly fill it with plain tissue paper or a soft cloth and place it inside a breathable dust bag. Do not seal leather in plastic.

If it gets wet

Rain happens. There is no need to panic.

Blot excess moisture gently with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not rub the surface, as this can spread water and disturb the grain.

Allow the bag to dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators, hair dryers and direct sunlight. While it is still slightly damp, restore its shape and leave all pockets open so air can circulate.

Water may temporarily darken the leather. In most cases, the tone will soften as it dries.

A few times a year

Apply a small amount of neutral leather conditioner with a soft cloth. Work in light, even layers rather than saturating the surface.

Always test any product on a discreet area first, as conditioners may deepen the leather’s color. Allow the bag to absorb the treatment naturally, then buff it gently with a clean cloth.

How often you condition the leather depends on your climate and how frequently the bag is used. If the surface begins to feel dry or less supple, it may be ready for care.

Let leather be leather

Small scratches, subtle variations and softened edges are part of the material’s natural character. Many light marks can be blended by gently massaging the area with clean fingers.

The goal is not to keep your bag looking untouched. It is to help the leather age well—slowly, naturally and uniquely.
